Washington Conference Videos

IN DECEMBER of 2005, more than 100 noted judges, journalists, lawyers and court information officers from across the country gathered at the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs in Washington, D.C., for a two-day conference conducted by the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Courts and Media (RNCCM) and funded by a grant provided by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The conference brought together experts and practitioners in both the legal and journalistic communities to explore issues related to confidentiality and secrecy that often create conflict and dissension between the court system and the news media.

"Confidentiality in the Courts and the Media" was the fourth national conference sponsored by the National Judicial College (NJC) since 1996, and the third since the creation of the RNCCM in 2000. The mission of this conference was not only to explore the causes of the tension and conflict between the courts and the media in these cases, but also to help both have a greater understanding of and appreciation for each other. This DVD contains 37 segments from the conference.
